IT Came from Kickstarter: Don't Cuddle the Krampus

I haven't had the time to do an official "IT Came from Kickstarter" for "Don't Cuddle the Krampus", the newest campaign from WARPO Toys. You may recall WARPO from their successful 70's throwback "Legends of Cthulhu" toyline.

Now the team at WARPO are moving forward into the 80's to hit on the current Krampus craze with a loving tribute to the so-called grossout toys of that era.

Albino Dragon funded the deck through Kickstarter, bringing them to my attention. You’d be hard pressed to find new Gremlins merchandise outside of the occasional figure, so I backed this immediately. 

IT Came from Kickstarter: Strange Kids Club Magazine #5

There were few things cooler growing up then being the owner of a Mad or Cracked Magazine. Possessing one was like owning a Playboy (for those who truly didn't understand what a Playboy was) and sneaking Cracked into school was like...sneaking crack into school. We imagined that the manic energy and childish parody contained within the pages was the secret formula to incite anarchy onto the patriarchal school administration.

Yeah, we didn't know anything but Mad and Cracked were still cool. Strange Kids Club has tried to re-create that zany and anti-authoritative tone with a healthy dose of nostalgia through  their publication SKC Magazine. On this, their fifth issue, they tackle that cherished trope that we all from the last two decades can identify with:

IT Came From Kickstarter: "Never Sleep Again: The Making of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' "

This was a feature I wanted to start way back in October but never got around to it. What brought me back was that I needed something to break my monotony while working on a rather large blog post that has taken my weeks to finish (Spoiler alert: it's about Electric Zombie again. Always the apple polisher.) More than that I really wanted to have a regular feature to exalt and praise and push projects on Kickstarter and Indiegogo that I feel fulfills the motto of this blog of covering anything that ultimately proves culturally significant. In this instance I feel the project covers that parameter.
