Free Film Friday: 'Pennies from Heaven' (1981)

Free Film Friday is a new feature on CultSig! that will feature an individual film in it's entirety taken from a user from Youtube to be enjoyed by you, the reader (or viewer, since this is cinema). As we will be showing films that may not rest in the public trust we must state the following:

We at Culturally Significant! do not own the rights or
claim the copyright of the film embedded. Those rights
belong to the original owner and not the user unless noted.

Now that that's out of the way we will start this new tradition with the 1981 flop turned classic 'Pennies from Heaven'

Starring Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters, the film was originally considered a financial loser when first released but has gone on to gain quite the cult following. Being the second feature film to star Steve Martin after 'The Jerk' many went in thinking it was going to be a funny comedy 80's musical. Instead, they found a dark depression era drama calling back to Busby Berkeley musical numbers and a tap dancing Christopher Walken. Understandable, it took awhile for people to come around to the brilliance. Currently the film is out of print on DVD but hopefully it's newly discovered praise will force MGM to issue it on Blu-ray.

Thanks to Theatre Geek for posting the video
